Here is the build diary of my '95 2.0i Avant Garde Cabrio which I have a plan list I'm slowly ticking off.
I will be adding a few Porsche touches too, Porsche Carrera White, RS teardrop twin exit tailpipes, Boxster front Calipers but also adding US Spec items and a Vento front end. I will add a little red to the outside to reflect the Red leather seats over black trim interior by fitting a Red mohair hood and red rim over black alloys. To finish the Porsche theme I hope the convert the top of the bootlid into a pop up spoiler using Corrado items and to finish the US Spec look a set of textured ABT style side skirts keep the lower textured theme running from the VR6 front spoiler to the textured effect of the standard rear bumper lower trim.
Once the styling is finished and of course the suspension/brakes and handling are sorted I will be looking at fitting a V6 4motion engine with a few tweaks to replace the flat 115bhp 8v lump.
Here are the pictures from when I picked up the 78k standard Cabrio to how she looks now.
The damaged I received on Jubilee weekend from a person who had one too many Shandy's and a plant pot!!!
Plant pot in the background.
The new Red Mohair hood has arrived.
Hood now fitted.
US Spec rear lights.
Smoked front bumper lights including Indicators/Fog & Running lights.
The front end will soon look like this
US Spec clear bumper marks have turned up and just started making a template ready for when I pick up a part finished US Spec front bumper along with a Vento front end with tinted headlights and a flushed N/S wing. :smug:
Take one blue tonneau cover and one tin of flexy red vinyl paint and the first coat is on, one to go
Lots of driving around Brum done, Vento front end got, bonnet fitted bright yellow ouch, headlights wiring won't fitted without harness adaptors £18 a pair, two grilles and one genuine with badge sweet, headlights already Joey'd sorted, passenger wing to replace dented one with repeater deleted great, in yellow ouch, nearly finished US Spec style front bumper nice one. Not a bad day really.
Fitted the rest of the Vento front end, just wings and bumper to finish.
Just fitted the US Spec bumper marker lights.
Fitted the US Spec front bumper today, ok it's not finished but the rest of the bodywork isn't yet so what the heck!!!
Need a new splitter as my VR6 one is to short, so lift the one it came with on, also found two brackets that will work for my floating number plate. Need to primer and tidy up around the marker lights, but all in all you get the idea.
Hoping to sort the distance between bumper and tarmac at the beginning of next month when my imported items turn up
A few more items have turned up to fit over the next couple of months.
Febi lower wishbones uprated with R32 rear bushes, Bonrath anti roll bar bushes, Eibach front camber bolts, Plastic filler and fine stopper plus an invisible aerial.
Corrado spoiler motor, relay and switch.
Main light switch with front fogs and 100w yellow fog bulbs.
Washer jets off a Chevrolet RV clipped on to the wiper arms with the washer pipes feed behind the arms.
Ordered two red leather dye kits which equals 300ml in total and now I know I needed 600ml lol, so just need to finish a little on the seat back and then do the seat base. Progress so far.....
Just need to black the rest of the side trims and they can go in
