Ok so this is only Part 1, but you should hopefully get the idea and I'll finish it off over the next day or two. Remove your Mk3 headrest using small flat bladed screwdrivers in the slots inside the headrest pole surrounds pushing forward from behind and pulling the headrest up. Once removed turn the headrest upside down and again using a small flat bladed screwdriver down the seam you can flip out the plastic insert clip holding the fabric/leather in place. Now you can pull the cassette holding the 'U' shaped poles, from underneath you'll see two clips on each pole, flick these aside and remove the top of the cassette and the poles will slide up and out. Now on to the Mk4 hooped headrest, there are plastic insert clips running all the way around the headrest that need a small flat bladed screwdriver to pull out. Once this has been totally unclipped you can pull the cover through the hoop. Then the foam front and back will pull off. You will now see that the poles off the Mk3 match up fairly good against the ones in the Mk4, only difference is the Mk4's are slightly fatter and hence why they need to be swapped over. Only problem with not being able to finish this in one part, my torx bits are back in the workshop  So tools requires, a couple of small flat bladed screwdrivers if I didn't mention them and a torx bit with a ratchet

Part 2. Here I have photos of the stripping down of the second headrest, firstly unclip the cover between the poles. Pull out the cassette. Push aside the clips on each pole. Unclip the top off the cassette. Then push the cassette down the poles. Wrap around 18" of tank tape around the cross bar of the Mk3 poles. Now after remove the 40 Torx screw for the Mk4 headrest frame, remove the clip and push the two tabs back holding the poles and slide them out. Fit the Mk3 poles and push the clip over the taped area, hopefully this will be tight and will need pushing down with a screwdriver. Refit Torx screw and tighten, there will be some movement but not floppy and if like me the headrests will be right down on the top of the seat this should hold it firm in place. All finished and with the left overs
